New Memeber with a 78 Race bike project
« on: November 25, 2017, 03:11:12 PM »
Hello,  New member here.  I am in Metro Atlanta and have been vintage racing Yamaha 2 strokes for the past 18 years.

I have decided to build my first 4-stroke race bike.  I intend to run I the AHRMA lightweight Superbike class with a Yamaha XS500.  I purchased a running 1978 model.  I have most of the parts I need suspension and control wise.  I am going to post up all the stock parts I don't need.  It is a nice example with powder coated frame and wheels and brand new tires.   It is a running bike, I would consider trading it to someone with a suitable donor.  All I need is a frame, seat, rear seat cowl/fender, side covers, fuel tank, I can keep this motor or swap for a suitable one.  I don't intend to use the starter, alternator, points or balancer system.
