1976 xs500 scrambler??
« on: February 01, 2017, 04:36:12 PM »
So I picked up a 76 model that the PO had hacked up the tail in trying to do like  a cafe racer type thing? Anyway I got it home, otherwise it was pretty clean and apparently only has 4k original miles on it according to the title and odo.  So far I have completely stripped the wiring out cleaned up some loose ends on the frame, replaced fork seals and mounted up some renthal mx bars.  Ill try to get some pics up soon.

Waiting to see some pics for sure, seeing as how I'll be doing a similar tracker/scrambler set up when mine is complete.

Still looks kinda ugly right now but I'm hoping the tx tank smooths everything out, still need to get my tires and powdercoat the wheels

yeah it looks ugly

i m going to petition congress to pass a law that prohibits this abuse that people inflict on bikes. all these brat cafe stuff is bunch of non sense that ends up looking ugly in best case scenario, generally people never finish the projects and bikes are wasted...

Fads like this come and go but to me the bottom line is that if you wind up with a bike that is no fun to ride and not as good as what you started out with then you've f'd up. Flat board seats, way oversized tires and "Scramblers" without fenders are some of what seem just plain stupid.

Thank you for sharing your opinion.

However, we all would appreciate a short introduction before leaving any comment... Who are you? Do you like TX/XS 500? Why? Do you own one? And so on...

Thanks for understanding.

Loads of Scrambler / Café Racer bikes out there at the min, its one of those 10yr cycle things i'm sure like mortgage rates, Bike looks as if someone has put a lot of work into it so far good effort keep us updated.
