New member from Ft Worth TX with 1977 project
« on: February 07, 2018, 05:27:04 PM »
Hello!  I picked up a 77 XS500 a few weeks ago with the intent of getting it  back on the road.  It was stripped of many things at some point so it will be more of a restomod and not an original type restoration.  I love parallel twin motors and the lines of the XS500 sold me on this project.

Iím 37 and Iíve had many, many bikes over the years and I know my way around fixing most things.  Currently I also have my daily driver 2015 Fz-07 and a 1996 Yamaha xt350 dual sport.

Plans are to powder coat the frame and wheels satin black, new paint for tank and side covers, all new controls and electronics using a cleaned up factory wiring harness.

Iíll post some pics once I figure out how to shrink them

Welcome to the forum. When you're ready post the serial number and assembly date and we'll get you in the registry. You have a good stable going there. I'm looking to add an XSR700 to my fleet. The FZ07 engine is a jewel.

Iíve been slowly working on this restomod when Iíve had time and itís pretty much done.
Every single part was either refurbished to look new or replaced.  Iíve got lots of pics of the process but hereís one from today next to its much younger cousin
It runs and ride great!
