Hello everyone!
« on: October 28, 2012, 02:56:04 PM »
Hello, I'm Jeff.
I am located in central NY, I got my 1976 XS500 two years ago, tore the whole thing down to nothing but a bare frame and started building what I wanted. I ended up with a cross between a cafe racer and a naked sport bike style. of course I painted it flat black.

I am a gm factory trained mechanic, ASE master tech and now a chrysler factory traind technician. unfortunately I have no formal motorcycle training, but after I got my bike and took it apart I gained alot of knowledge of the bike and I am willing to share that knowledge with whoever needs help.

if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask!

Sme here I know alot about cars, but not sqaut on bikes, well enough to get me in trouble..ha! This might be a stupid question, but the LT engine side cover does not hold oil correct? And is there any tricks to the clutch shaft on the that LT side of the engine (where the clutch cable mounts to). I can pull my clutch lever in and it just stays engaged, there is no recoil.

Jeff - this might sound daft, but have you got the return spring mounted on to the end of the clutch cable (engine end)??

Yup sure do....I hoping that adjusting the assembly where the cable mounts to will do it...it not, clutch comes out.

I can take a picture of mine while the engine is out if you want - I've had no problems with the clutch.
