How is the fuel tank mounted
« on: February 19, 2015, 06:22:28 PM »
My xs500 didn't have a proper fuel tank or any mounting hardware.

Can some provide pics of the tank mounted, unmounted underneath and the isolators I may need.

I see what I am missing for my tank to mount securely.

I dont have the front C Channels on my frame that would lock the forward mounting isolators in.

Is that a part that is bolted on Or will I have to weld on a solution?

The mounts were factory spot welded on to the headstock gusset.  :D

The dampers you seek were used on dozens of models and should be an easy find :http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/yamaha/YP-278-24181-00-00.html

I probably have a used set somewhere ( too cold out there to look through bins today) however Mike's has new ones for $3.75ea too: http://www.mikesxs.net/product/02-6530.html

Here is a pic, I measured the bracket of this E frame at 39mm ID :
