so I checked that and seems like its fine. I have spark at L and R cylinder. Should my spark happen at LF then do a full 360 to RF and spark there?

Because mine is spark at LF then goes at 1/2 turn then sparks on RF

It sounds like the engine is firing out of time and kicking back enough to unload the starter gears and possibly some noise out of the starter clutch (the squawking soumd).

How would i fix this? here has been how i timed it. I have newtronics installed:

1. Manually turn engine over and watch for spark on L side
2. At spark check timing plate for LF
3. Adjust plate to fire right at LF
4. Do the same for the right side
5. kick engine and get this

Am i doing something wrong?

Is is possible that the engine would spin and whatnot but not be aligned right? The only thing I can think of is the timing is messed up?

Last question then im going to do that and see where we are at I promise.

When I open the RH bottom case and am aligning the dots do I have to remove the primary drive gears and reinstall them or can I just spin the drive gear so the dots align (I remember correctly with the chain disconnected I could spin mine freely to get the correct alignment with my chain disconnected). P69-71 in manual

Thank you for your help!

I can't remember if you can see the point shaft gear match mark without removing the breaker shaft bracket to see if it lines up with the mark on the crankcase when the drive gears are lined up. At most you will have to remove the bracket to see if they all line up. If they don't then realign them. If they do then just make sure that the camshaft dots are in time with relation to the "V" mark on the governor plate as in the illustration Fig. 4-212 in the camshaft timing section. (My manual is the XS500B/C with XS500C supplement).

I have no idea and am completely at a loss. Everything is lined up as in the picture, it spins and it seems like it wants to start but idk why it wont. It has spark, compression, and fuel. so i have no idea

See pictures please. This chain is loose and the tightener doesnt seem to be working? Is there a fix for that and could that be the cause of my non-starting????

Just thinking back now, when I installed my new cam chain link it wasn't perfectly in the middle between the two cams. But everything was lined up. Could that be effecting anything?

As long as the cams were aligned properly it doesn't matter where you installed the cam chain link.
