Governor setting for modern fuel, new governor springs
« on: March 26, 2019, 09:01:34 PM »
Hi.
I have two questions.
1.
I have 1977 XS500D. At that time there wasn't so much ethanol in the fuel. Should this be considered when setting time advancing? Does modern fuel burn faster? If so, the timing should be adjusted right?

2.
My governor springs are already weak. I am trying to get new ones but I have no luck. The governor my bike uses is the shorter and tougher springs type. Does anybody know where to buy it? Or possibly somebody can remake it?

Thanks

I'd say no on both questions. Use the same timing spec. Finding springs will be hard. I'd try buying another governor assembly on eBay.
