Compatible rear brakes
« on: December 02, 2019, 09:26:29 PM »
Hi,

Are other Yamaha rear brake setups straight swap overs for my XS500c model?

E.g xs650/750/850 or RD400, SR400 etc?

I ask as genuine xs500 parts are hard to come by here in Australia and want to see what else comes up locally on eBay etc that I could possibly use...

Thanks!

Sorry I meant the actual master cylinder assembly not the Calipers, lines etc.

Open to universal replacement options too if people can vouch for their quality.

Looks like you're the pioneer. The closest bet would be the master cylinder for an XS650 Special as far as bolting up but it, like many, uses a remote reservoir. Some of the later TZ250/750 parts may also be close and have integral fluid but may require mods to the frame mounts. Let us know what you come up with.

I am surprised but happy to be the guinea pig 😂

I had read somewhere about the TZ250 having the integrated reservoir which appeals to me... will have to check some dimensions and see what can be done...
