Greetings from Germany / Bavaria
« on: March 29, 2013, 01:13:34 PM »
I live in the franconian forest which is in northern Bavaria, right next to the former border to east germany (it´s about 1 mile from my house).
I usually do Kreidler Florett RS mopeds or my BMWs (cars).
My XS is US spec (1J3). It was sold and driven in Texas. It was shipped to Germany in 2/1987 by the pre-owner and had a USAREUR registration. The pre-owner (a friend of my dad) was sent to Iraq in 1991. The XS stayed in a garage... about 7 years later the pre-owner returned to Germany. I asked about the XS and he said that it should still be in the garage. Next day we went there and I had a "new" XS for free. ;D
I didn´t have much time for the XS yet. I have driven it 2 times with a 5 days registration, but the german registration office won´t accept the USAREUR papers.
I have also bought some german papers from a dead XS to have all the data, but I had to find out the euro XS is 1H2. and the TüV won´t take the 1H2 data to the 1J3 papers.
- no chance to get a german registration. maybe one of you can help.
i´ll give it a new try next year..
the bike is in good condition, exapt the flashers and the horn won´t work.
i am not sure which model it is. xs500 C D E ?

I try to add some pics but I am not sure if it works. If not I will post them later.

Best regards from Germany.
Falk

Hi Falk,

A belated welcome! Sorry to hear about the problems with registering the bike. Hopefully you will be able to sort it out.
Meanwhile, feel free to browse the forum.
Regarding the C,D or E version.
1976 = C
1977 = D
1978 = E

You can also check the registry (on this site) serial numbers to compare yours to others to determine the year of manufacture.

Servus falk!

going back to english, so the others can read, too

Today I got that data sheet from Yamaha Deutschland, doesn´t tell me anything new, but i´ll try to get that bike street legal with this.
I hope the missing data can be taken out of that german title I have laying around ..
