Beck,

You have to click thru maybe 5 or 6 pages to get to it, but it's there. Quicker way is to Google this:

NEWTRONIC IGNITION FOR YAMAHA TX500, XS500

The first item of the google hits is the correct one.
For some reason I could not insert the complete link in my post.

Only one left now!

The box arrived today, look's good, exactly like the pic on ebay.
Scanned the docs so you can have a look on how to install it and so on.

Actually bought mine the day after your blog post Jimmer.

Haven't had a moment to install yet. Sometime in the bike's life, someone stripped the head of the 10mm bolt under the points cover and I can't remove it for the life of me. So, I'm waiting for the next not-so-nice day to take the cover off and see what I can do to get that bolt out and then to install the Newtronics.

Hope it helps with the idle issue I've been having (hoping it's a timing thing) since I feel I have the carbs where they should be as far as jets. Still can't get the bike to run smooth at idle though...

I remember when I first got mine it had the same crappy spot welds.I rewelded it before installing it.You would think after so many years they would get that figured out. That is disappointing.

Must have been disappointing to waste a day because of poor workmanship.

The YAM3 rotor I have here shows a similar build quality.

The disc and rotor are actually soldered together and not welded.  The engineering problem with attaching a thin steel disc to a very thin walled steel tube is that if you weld it- you risk distorting both.  What Newtronics have decided to do is to avoid this by using a relatively low temp attachment process.

No problem with that- if soldered or silver-soldered correctly you would be able to hang your bike off it.  But the one I have here the soldered joint has not taken properly.  The solder has flowed into perhaps only 90 degrees of the circumference.

Despite this I can't move it with hefty clouts with a mallet, so Nige's must have been even worse...

At least it's something that can be remedied... Especially when the unit hasn't been fitted yet!
